Diplomacy Journal shJung 기자 | President Lee Jae-myung emphasized at a Cabinet meeting on the 20th, "Policies shouldn't end with announcing them. Thoroughly inspecting the field and quickly supplement any areas of improvement is the key to achieving a state that the people can truly feel."
In his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting that day, President Lee stated, "Whether it's government policy or anything else, true achievement can only be achieved when the people's quality of life is tangibly improved on the ground and when the people can feel it."
Regarding this year's performance evaluation, he stated, "The 2025 government task satisfaction survey showed that our government's performance rating is the highest since the survey began in 2013." However, he added, "We also found areas for further policy improvement."
He mentioned tax relief for working families with multiple children, the basic income pilot program for rural and fishing villages, and the "Everyone's Card," stating, "Many meaningful policies directly related to the people's daily lives stand out."
Regarding measures to prepare for the winter cold wave, he stated, "This winter's strongest cold wave is coming all week," and urged, "Please take extra care to prevent freezing of water pipes and meters, damage to greenhouses, and to ensure that vulnerable groups are not suffering from the cold."
He specifically requested thorough inspections by local governments and each ministry, saying, "It's just as sad when you're cold and sick as when you're hungry."
Regarding the issue of drones targeting North Korea, he stated, "Sending drones to North Korea for illegal purposes or sending drones into North Korean territory by civilians is unacceptable." He added, "We must thoroughly investigate and impose strict sanctions to prevent such incidents from happening again."
He continued, "The fact that we failed to check the multiple drone crossings into North Korea demonstrates a loophole." He added, "If tensions are unnecessarily heightened and an atmosphere of confrontation is created between the two Koreas, it will have a negative impact on the economy."
He added, "I urge you to do your utmost to manage this situation so that trust between the two Koreas is not broken and hostility is not heightened. I also urge investigative authorities to conduct thorough and swift investigations to ensure that such incidents never happen again."
President Lee addressed the public service community, saying, "It seems like civil servants' attitudes are changing, and there's a lot of talk about their hard work." He urged, "I want you to identify and encourage those who excel, reward them, and promote those who excel, creating more instances of praise."
Finally, President Lee urged, "Please study ways to transform Hyochang Park into a national park. We need to develop it so that many citizens can easily access it and enjoy visiting it."
