The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI), led by President & CEO Marie Antonia von Schönburg, held a meeting on November 26 with Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the National Assembly, together with the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).

The meeting focused on the business environment for foreign-invested companies, key regulatory issues, and ways to deepen bilateral economic cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the recently passed “Yellow Envelope Act,” Korea’s energy transition policy, and measures to improve investment predictability and industrial stability for foreign companies operating in Korea.

KGCCI and FKCCI conveyed concerns from foreign enterprises regarding uncertainties and transparency issues associated with the Yellow Envelope Act. The chambers emphasized the need for complementary measures to minimize potential negative impacts on Korea’s investment attractiveness and job creation during the implementation phase.

The chambers also outlined plans by German and French companies to expand cooperation in strategic sectors — especially energy transition and green infrastructure — aligning with Korea’s broader decarbonization and climate goals. They agreed to continue close communication with the Korean government and the National Assembly to support the stable operations of foreign-invested companies and to strengthen the foundation for sustainable economic cooperation.

Meanwhile, KGCCI is accelerating preparations for the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK), which will be held in Seoul in October 2026. APK is one of the most prominent business events in the region, bringing together around 800 political and economic leaders from Germany and the Asia-Pacific regions, and will include visits from high-level German government and industry figures.

Hyun-Nam Park, Chair of KGCCI, stated: “This meeting was a meaningful opportunity that reflects the importance of Korea–Germany economic relations. The 2026 APK in Seoul is expected to serve as a decisive moment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. KGCCI will continue working closely with the Korean government to ensure a predictable and reliable business environment where German companies can invest and grow with confidence.”
