The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Republic of Korea hosted a book launch ceremony in Seoul on Nov. 14 to celebrate the publication of “Oman and the Republic of Korea: Fifty Years of Diplomatic Relations,” marking half a century of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Lee Kyung-chul, High Representative for UN Security Council Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, alongside H.E. Zakariya bin Hamad Al Saadi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Korea.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Arab and international diplomatic corps, prominent figures from the cultural, media, and academic sectors, representatives of Korean and Omani companies, as well as business leaders and journalists.
In his remarks during the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Zakariya bin Hamad Al Saadi expressed his delight at the presence of this distinguished gathering of guests, praising the strength and resilience of the relations that have connected the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1974.
He extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to all who contributed to the publication of the book, affirming that this work “embodies the history of cooperation and the spirit of friendship that has united the peoples of the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Korea.”
The ambassador added that the book “reflects the shared values and mutual understanding that characterize the bilateral relationship, and opens new horizons for another fifty years of fruitful cooperation and joint progress.”
H.E. Lee Kyung-chul, the patron of the ceremony, also expressed his pleasure in participating in the launch of this book, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two friendly nations, which enjoy a strong and enduring friendship. He highlighted the important role of the Embassy in strengthening the bonds of cooperation and deepening mutual understanding between the two peoples
The book, “Oman and the Republic of Korea: Fifty Years of Diplomatic Relations,” published by the Embassy in both Arabic and Korean, provides a comprehensive review of the two nations’ partnership across political, economic, cultural, educational, and technological fields. It traces the evolution of cooperation since 1974, highlighting joint achievements in trade, tourism, culture, and sustainable development, and presents personal experiences of Omanis and Koreans living in each other’s countries.
Divided into six thematic sections, the publication includes congratulatory messages from senior officials, in-depth profiles of Oman and Korea, political and historical perspectives, ambassadorial narratives, cultural and creative collaborations, and the role of companies and institutions in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Embassy described the event as a milestone in the history of Oman–Korea relations, reaffirming the shared commitment to building a stronger partnership for future generations.
