The operator of the Suseo High-Speed Railway (SRT), SR, donated 1,000 Mongolian-translated environmental education books to the Mongolian Embassy in Seoul on November 7 to raise environmental awareness among Mongolian children.
The ceremony was attended by officials from SR, the Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation, and the Mongolian Embassy in Korea and they shared their commitment to building consensus on carbon neutrality and strengthening global social contribution cooperation.
The children's environmental education books donated this time were jointly produced by SR and the Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation to help children easily understand the concepts of the climate crisis and carbon neutrality.
The translations were translated into Mongolian and English by the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Interpretation and Translation Center, and reviewed by children from Mongolian schools in Korea and the UN Youth Environment Assembly delegation, reflecting local cultural and linguistic characteristics.
A total of 4,000 copies of this book (2,000 in Mongolian and 2,000 in English) will be produced. 1,000 copies in Mongolian will be distributed to Mongolian elementary schools in Mongolia, while the remaining books will be distributed to Mongolian schools in Korea, multicultural centers, and the National Library of Korea. The book will also be available free of charge at Kyobo Bookstore and Yes24.
SR also plans to invite students from Mongolian schools in Korea to a "Carbon Neutrality Practice Demonstration Tour" in November.
Students will visit SRT Suseo Station to experience the eco-friendly railway operation system and visit the Seoul Metropolitan Landfill to experience firsthand examples of resource recycling practices.
SR CEO Lee Jong-guk stated, "This book donation is a small gesture toward protecting the environment for future generations and a step toward realizing the social values SR strives for. We will continue to expand our ESG management."
