President Lee congratulates Japan's Prime Minister Takaichi on her Inauguration

Seeking future-oriented, mutually beneficial cooperation

President Lee Jae-myung shared a congratulatory message on October 21 for Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her inauguration.

 

President Lee stated on his SNS that day, “As neighbors sharing a front yard, South Korea and Japan have developed cooperative relations across diverse fields including politics, security, economy, socio-culture, and people-to-people exchanges.”

 

 

He added, “We have entered an era where approximately 12 million citizens from both nations visit each other—something unimaginable 60 years ago.”

 

President Lee stated, “We now stand at a critical turning point where we must open a new 60-year chapter in Korea-Japan relations,” adding, “Amidst an international landscape marked by heightened uncertainty, the importance of Korea-Japan relations has never been greater.”

 

President Lee also expressed, “At this critical juncture, I look forward to working with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to further strengthen future-oriented, mutually beneficial cooperation between our two countries and peoples.”

 

President Lee Jae-myung particularly expressed his hope, “I also hope that based on shuttle diplomacy, the leaders of both countries can meet frequently and communicate.”

 

President Lee added, “I look forward to meeting the Prime Minister in person in Gyeongju, where the upcoming APEC Summit will be held, and to having constructive discussions,” concluding, “Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on your inauguration.”
