Following a meeting in Gangwon Province on September 12, President Lee Jae-myung visited frontline troops to inspect the military's readiness posture and encourage the soldiers.

President Lee visited the Chilsung Observation Post of the Army's 7th Infantry Division in Hwacheon County, Gangwon Province. There, he surveyed the area near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and guard posts (GP) while receiving a briefing on the military's readiness posture.

He also toured the construction site for state-of-the-art barracks. Expressing hope that soldiers would be able to live in a slightly better environment, he meticulously checked whether there were any issues, such as with the water supply.

President Lee then met with the soldiers, commending them for fulfilling their sacred duty of defending the homeland despite difficult conditions.

Beginning with the words, “It's tough, isn't it?” President Lee encouraged them, stating that thanks to the sacrifice, dedication, and hard work of the soldiers of the 7th Infantry Division, known as the ‘Rising Seven Stars’ – a unit that ‘always wins when it fights’ – the people of the Republic of Korea enjoy peaceful daily lives.

He added that seeing the soldiers made him feel reassured yet also somewhat apologetic, inquiring and checking whether they faced any inconveniences regarding meals, lodging, or other matters.

President Lee emphasized that maintaining firm security is as crucial as safeguarding the soldiers' lives and health, urging them to conduct training as if it were real combat while always prioritizing safety above all else.

President Lee Jae-myung concluded his schedule by shouting “Fighting!” together with the soldiers.

Accompanying President Lee Jae-myung on his visit to the frontline unit were Defense Minister Ahn Kyu-baek and Defense Secretary Kwak Tae-shin.
