With just one year remaining until the opening of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, the D-365 commemorative event was held at the Ocean Plaza of the Yeosu World Expo Site on September 5.
Organized by the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo Organizing Committee, this event aimed to raise awareness of the Island Expo and build pre-event excitement. Over 2,000 participants attended, including Yeosu citizens, domestic and international visitors, and island residents.

The event commenced with an opening video and subsequent videos featured congratulatory messages from overseas participating countries like East Timor and Peru. Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi, the Peruvian Ambassador to Korea, sent a congratulatory message.
Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Yeosu Mayor Jeong Ki-myeong stated, “This D-365 commemorative event was a meaningful occasion to gather domestic and international interest in the Island Expo,” adding, “We will thoroughly prepare during the remaining period until the Expo opens and do our utmost to promote the value of islands to the world.”
Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, themed ‘Connecting Islands, Oceans, and the Future,’ is scheduled to take place from September 5 to November 4, 2026, across various locations in Yeosu City.
