Ambassador Amit Kumar of India to Korea made an official visit to Gyeongbuk Province on July 29 and paid a courtesy call on Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee. Ambassador Kumar's visit came ahead of his return to India after completing his three-year term.

Ambassador Kumar expressed his gratitude for the exchanges and cooperation with Gyeongbuk Province and expressed his hope that "we will continue to collaborate, focusing on future-oriented areas such as youth talent, industry, and culture."

Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo visited India to solidify the foundation for cooperation and continue to expand exchanges with India, not only in economic and trade cooperation but also in youth and culture.

In particular, he signed a friendship and exchange agreement with Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state with a young population and growth potential. They have been exploring practical cooperation measures, including local expansion of Gyeongbuk companies and attracting talented Indian talent.

He also visited three major universities in India, including Delhi University, to hold information sessions on attracting international students and to introduce employment opportunities with local companies, broadening the foundation for human exchange.

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1973, Korea and India have cooperated in various areas, including politics, economy, and culture. This relationship has become even closer since the establishment of a "Special Strategic Partnership" in 2015.

Deputy Governor Yang Geum-hee stated, "Ambassador Kumar's visit to Gyeongbuk symbolizes the long-standing friendship and trust between Gyeongbuk Province and India, and it was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the potential for practical local diplomacy that both sides are pursuing."

She added, "We will continue to deepen cooperation with India in future-oriented areas such as youth talent exchange, industrial cooperation, and cultural content."

Ambassador Kumar responded, "Even after returning to India, I will actively strive to strengthen exchanges with Gyeongbuk Province."
