Ambassador Alisher Abdusalomov of Uzbekistan to South Korea visited the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office on July 15 and discussed ways to expand exchanges and cooperation with Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum.
Ambassador Abdusalomov said, “Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, the two countries have continued friendly cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy, and culture,” adding, “I hope that the cooperative relationship for mutual benefit and common prosperity will be further deepened.”

In response, Governor Kim said, “The people of Chungcheongnam-do remember how the people of Uzbekistan warmly welcomed the Koreans who were forcibly relocated in 1937,” and added, “Let's work together to create a future-oriented cooperation model based on the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.”
Governor Kim mentioned the friendship and exchange agreement signed between Chungcheongnam-do Province and Fergana Province, Uzbekistan, in May last year, and requested interest and cooperation in establishing a Chungcheongnam-do investment and trade representative office in Fergana Province, appointing a trade advisor, and establishing a global center for foreigners.
The two sides also exchanged opinions on expanding economic cooperation, promoting exchange of international students, and measures for the settlement and social integration of foreign residents.
After visiting the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office, Ambassador Abdusalomov and his entourage moved to Cheonan, where they visited a cosmetics manufacturer and a health functional food company, toured the sites, and discussed the possibility of entering Uzbekistan and ways to expand cooperation.
