During the International Forum on Important Minerals (INFOCM 2025) held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, which commenced on May 12-13, 2025, the geological authorities of Tajikistan and Korea formalized a collaborative partnership.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Main Department of Geology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, represented by its Head, Ilhomjon Oimuhammadzoda, and the Korean Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, represented by its President, Dr. Pyeong Ku Lee.

This MOU establishes a framework for cooperation in key areas including geological imaging and mapping; geochemical and geophysical research of mineral deposits and geological resources; identification of exploration indicators for important minerals; mineralogical research on strategic minerals; groundwater environment studies; and geological hazard assessment.

The agreement also fosters scientific and technical collaboration in the broader geological sciences.

The primary objective of this partnership is to facilitate the exchange of scientific and technical expertise, thereby strengthening the geoscience capabilities of both Tajikistan and Korea and fostering stronger economic and technical ties.

This collaborative effort in geological studies is expected to advance scientific and technological development and enhance the expertise of specialists from both nations.
