Yoon Young-mi, chairman of Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), held a meeting with Ecuadorian Ambassador to Korea Patricio Esteban Troya Suarez at the KOIMA office in Seoul on May 8 to discuss ways to expand bilateral trade.

“Ecuador is a country that is competitive in various industries such as shrimp, bananas, cacao, coffee, and flowers,” said Ambassador Suarez, ”and we are about to sign the Strategic Economic Cooperation Agreement (SECA) to expand trade with Korea.”

He added that he hopes the agreement will further strengthen the partnership as a hub for exchanges between Latin America and Asia, as direct flights between the two countries are being considered.

Yoon Young-mi, chairman of KOIMA, said, “Ecuador is an important trading partner of Korea, and we look forward to the successful conclusion of this agreement and expanded cooperation in various industries between the two countries.”

Yoon added, “We invite Ecuador to consider participating in the Korea Import Expo at COEX in Seoul from July 7-9, and hope that Ecuadorian companies and excellent products will use this as an opportunity to enter the Korean market.”
