(New Year Message)
Dear readers of the Diplomacy Journal,

As we embark on a new year, I extend my warmest greetings to the readers of Diplomacy Journal and the people of the Republic of Korea. The year 2024 was a remarkable one for the Philippines and Korea, marked by the deepening of our bilateral ties with the elevation of our relations to that of a Strategic Partnership and the ratification of our Free Trade Agreement.

As we celebrated the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, we reflected on the enduring friendship that has shaped our shared history and paved the way for countless opportunities to strengthen our partnership. High-level exchanges of visits served to further invigorate our already robust engagement.

Over the past year, our two nations worked together to achieve milestones in defense, political-security, trade, tourism, education, migration, and cultural exchanges. Korea remains a steadfast ally and one of the Philippines’ most important economic partners, with trade and investment continuing to flourish. The return of vibrant tourism exchanges and the continued flow of our respective nationals between our countries remind us constantly of the people-to-people connections that form the foundation of our relationship. In 2024, we also prioritized collaboration in addressing global challenges such as climate change and food security, affirming our shared commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient future.

Looking forward to 2025, I am optimistic about what we can accomplish together. The Philippines is eager to work closely with Korea in advancing regional peace, security, and sustainable development. Our partnership in emerging industries such as clean and renewable energy, digital innovation, and green technology offers immense potential to benefit our nations and the greater Asia-Pacific region. At the same time, we will continue to honor and celebrate our shared connections through dynamic cultural exchanges and engagements that bring our peoples closer together.

As we move into the New Year, I invite all Filipinos and Koreans to renew their commitment to friendship, collaboration, and shared progress. Let us continue to work hand-in-hand to achieve our common goals and to build a brighter future for generations to come. On behalf of the Philippine Embassy in Korea, I wish you and your families a New Year filled with hope, success, and joy as well as renewed opportunities for peace and prosperity between our two nations.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas at Korea! Happy New Year!
