The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced on Sept. 23 to host a global Chuseok celebration where foreigners and seniors come together for the holiday.

The city will hold cultural programs related to Chuseok from late September to early October at six Foreign Resident Centers as well as Gangnam and Itaewon Global Village Centers, bringing together Korean nationals and foreigners.

Seoul’s Foreign Resident Centers and Global Village Centers provide assistance to the city’s 400,000 foreign residents to support their stable settlement through daily life consultations and cultural exchanges, and this year’s Chuseok holiday program is part of such efforts. For details, please visit the Seoul Foreigner Portal (global.seoul.go.kr).

The six Foreign Resident Centers (i.e., Gangdong, Geumcheon, Seongbuk, Yangcheon, Eunpyeong, and Dongbu) will provide holiday gifts sponsored by the Community Chest of Korea to foreign residents and run a variety of cultural programs, including a visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace, a camp in Yeosu, farm village experiences, and trips to amusement parks.

This year, more than 1,100 residents will receive holiday gifts, and about 300 will take part in cultural programs.
