Busan City Mayor Park Hyung-joon met with Nepalese Ambassador to Korea Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe at the International Conference Room of City Hall on April 2 to discuss mutual cooperation and development plans.
At the meeting, Mayor Park said, “Busan City and Busan Technopark are promoting an important project to transfer Busan's advanced technology to Nepal and contribute to the development of Nepal's technology through the creation of an artificial intelligence (AI) technology support center in Nepal and a project to train artificial intelligence (AI) professionals.”

Park said, “Nepal, which has world-class tourism resources, is a country with strong market potential through inland connections between India and China, which have large populations, and I hope that Busan companies can enter the Nepalese market smoothly through mutual cooperation.”
Mayor Park also explained, “Busan provides various support for foreign students through the ‘Busan, a Good City for Studying Abroad’ policy, and the ‘Busan Foreign Worker Support Center’ provides practical help to foreign workers.”
As of April last year, there were more than 1,000 international students from Nepal in Busan, the fourth largest number after China, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.
“We look forward to learning Busan's advanced technology and developing Nepal based on it,” said the Nepalese ambassador. ”Nepal has beautiful tourist destinations such as Lumbini and the Himalayas, and we hope that many Busan citizens will visit.”
