As we welcome the New Year, I extend my warmest wishes to the readers of the Diplomacy Journal of the Republic of Korea. May 2025 bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to you and your families.

The year 2025 holds special significance as we prepare to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Lao PDR and the Republic of Korea. Since the establishment of our partnership in 1995, our two nations have built a lasting friendship based on mutual respect, trust, and shared aspirations for peace, development, and cultural exchange.

Over the past three decades, our cooperation has elevated to a comprehensive partnership and expanded across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, education, and tourism. Korea has played a crucial role in supporting development projects in Laos, focusing on infrastructure, capacity-building, and humanitarian efforts. Thus, Lao PDR has become a welcoming destination for Korean businesses and tourists, strengthening economic and cultural ties.

As we prepare for the anniversary celebrations in 2025, we are planning a series of cultural, economic, and diplomatic events to celebrate this important milestone, fostering deeper understanding and friendship between our peoples.

Looking to the future, I am confident that the bond between Laos and Korea will continue to flourish. By working together, we can overcome challenges and explore new opportunities for mutual benefit, contributing to the broader prosperity of the ASEAN-Korea community.
