Meets with acting chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan

Publish-Chairman Lee Jon-young of the South Korean “Diplomacy Journal” English magazine, participated as an international observer in the elections to the Oliy Majlis (House of Representatives) and local councils of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan reported.  


Chairman Lee attended a meeting organized by the Uzbekistan journalists association to discuss the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the media and other fields.

 


Despite their geographical distance, Uzbekistan and South Korea share a similar cultural background and spirit, and have a long history of friendship, especially in science and technology exchanges, and the two countries cherish their long-standing historical ties and spiritual heritage.


In June, at the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol paid a state visit to Uzbekistan, marking a new turning point in bilateral relations. During the visit, the two leaders signed several documents, including a joint statement to further deepen and expand the Special Strategic Partnership. This marked an important step forward in bilateral cooperation.

 


At the meeting, which was held at the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, it was noted that South Korea's “Diplomacy Journal” regularly features articles on positive changes in Uzbekistan. Mr. Lee emphasized that “Diplomacy Journal” is a magazine that specializes in covering important diplomatic issues and political events around the world, and also pays attention to changes and developments in Uzbekistan.


After the meeting, journalists from both countries exchanged souvenirs and wished for further strengthening of relations between the two countries.


The meeting once again confirmed the important role that journalists can play in promoting development and friendly cooperation between the two countries, the PR Office of the Uzbekistan Journalists' union reported.
